Tour Overview

Step away from the ordinary and sail to Waiheke Island, widely recognized as New Zealand's "Island of Wine". This day tour offers a comprehensive exploration of the island's celebrated wine culture, guided by an expert who is deeply familiar with Waiheke's unique viticultural heritage.

Your journey begins with a visit to Te Motu Vineyard, a cornerstone in Waiheke's wine history. Here, you'll taste wines cultivated from vines planted back in 1989 by the pioneering Dunleavy family. The rich flavors of Te Motu's wines offer a direct connection to the island’s soil and climate, showcasing the distinct terroir that makes Waiheke wines so unique.

As the tour continues, you'll visit two more of the island's top vineyards. Each stop includes tastings and discussions that highlight the diverse wine-making approaches and grape varieties that thrive in the local environment. Between the vineyards, your guide will share insights into the island's geography and culture, enriching your understanding of how these elements influence the wines produced here.

To complement the wine, a two-course lunch with a glass of local wine awaits at a nearby restaurant, providing a moment to relax and reflect on the flavors and knowledge gained. The tour is designed to cater to preferences, offering alternatives like whisky, beer, gin, or olive oil tastings for those interested in exploring beyond wine.

This tour not only promises a taste of Waiheke's finest wines but also a deeper appreciation for the island's rich cultural tapestry and lush landscapes. Whether you're a connoisseur or a casual enthusiast, the experienced guide ensures a fulfilling and educational day. Return to Auckland feeling refreshed and inspired, with a new perspective on New Zealand's wine culture.
