A personal guide to Tāmaki Makaurau, from a local who’s seen the world and came back for the sunshine.
Kia ora, thanks for stopping by! Auckland.kiwi is run by a born-and-bred Aucklander who’s spent years rediscovering the city after seeing the world. I grew up on Auckland's North Shore but traded the Waitematā for the Thames while working in the UK for a decade, then came home to raise my family on the sunny Hibiscus Coast. Those adventures abroad showed me just how special Auckland’s mix of beaches, bush, and city buzz really is. We have something special here.
These days you’ll find me, my family, and our ever-energetic dog exploring every corner of the region: paddling at sunrise on the East Coast Bays, tackling new clifftop tracks, casting a line off remote west-coast rocks, or hunting out coffee spots that welcome sandy feet and wagging tails. We road-test our listed activities where possible, with real-world questions in mind. Is the path stroller friendly? Can the kids burn off energy nearby? Is there shade for the dog? Then we share the places that pass the test.
Auckland.kiwi is our personal field notebook turned public guide. You’ll get:
Whether you’re an Auckland local hunting for a new weekend spot or a traveller planning your first dip into the Hauraki Gulf, we hope the site feels like advice from a neighbour who knows every tide chart and ice-cream caravan in town. If you spot us out walking the dog, come say hi—there’s always room for more beach stories and fishing tales.
See you on the water (or the track),
