Small-group guided walk through central Auckland, from Albert Park to Viaduct Harbour, with Māori history, public art and views over Waitematā Harbour.
Step through central Auckland on a small group guided walking tour that traces the city from its volcanic origins to the waterfront. As you move through Tāmaki Makaurau, the route brings together Māori legends, stories of pioneering people, and key historical events that have shaped the City of Sails.
The walk includes a brief stop at Auckland Art Gallery, then winds through Albert Park, where you can walk through the grounds and see the Clock Tower at the University of Auckland. There is also a brief stop to learn about the history behind the Women’s Suffrage Memorial, along with time to notice public art displays tucked through the city’s streets and lanes.
From there, the tour uncovers the backstreets of old Auckland before continuing to Britomart and the Viaduct Harbour. You will see the Sky Tower at a short distance, pass an America’s Cup Yacht, and visit the New Zealand Maritime Museum area as the city opens out to the water. The experience ends at the waterfront with views of Waitemata Harbour.
A refreshment break is included during the walk, along with local tips on places to eat, drink and shop. This is a grounded introduction to Auckland’s history, culture, landmarks, and harbour setting.
