Tour Overview

Travel south from Auckland on a two-day circuit that links three of the North Island’s most celebrated sites. Begin at the Waitomo Caves, where a silent boat ride carries you below thousands of glow-worms that illuminate curving limestone walls. Continue across rolling farmland to the Hobbiton Movie Set and stroll the paths of the Shire, pausing for a drink at the Green Dragon Inn while your guide shares behind-the-scenes details from the film production.

That evening you reach Rotorua, a city shaped by geothermal forces and Māori heritage. After settling into your hotel, witness a cultural performance that blends song, dance, and the haka before tasting a traditional hāngi dinner. The following morning is devoted to the geysers, silica terraces, and bubbling pools of Te Puia or Wai-O-Tapu; time is set aside for optional activities such as a spa soak or redwood forest walk. Return to Auckland in the afternoon, passing lush dairy country along the way.

The tour includes round-trip transport in a comfortable vehicle, one night of hotel accommodation, site admissions, breakfast, and the services of a driver-guide. Group size is kept small to ensure personal attention at every stop.
